So a C36 AMG (one of 5200 built, according to Jalopnik about 200 imported to US) just showed up at the junkyard. Anybody know how to get security lug nuts off without a key? Bonus VW Quantum Syncro too.

Kinja'd!!!

Has carbon fiber wrapped trunk and hood. Going back tomorrow for the seats, they are so comfy.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This guy was in the parking lot, so hopefully he doesn’t take the wheels.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

This was in a last gen Celica, poor car never had a chance.

Kinja'd!!!

An 86 VW Quantum Syncro, didn’t even know this existed.

Drilling them out is the only thought that goes through my mind.....

Maybe this?

Look in the glovebox, centre console, spare tire carrier, etc. for the key? Hopefully that’s not a dealer-only tool, it’s not like any other locking lug nut I’ve seen. But then I don’t look for them, so...

Those poor wheels....please, if you take them, repaint them the factory colors. Otherwise I’ll go steal them from you and keep them as a spare set for my SL.

That was my first thought too, and will be tried if all else fails.

That was what I did, definitely not in there. Interior parts all over too so perhaps it got under a seat or something.

If I get them I might just be tempted to buy a car to put them on.

That looks promising, I’ll try that first.

Only if it’s got the star on the front of it.

That’s what I do. But it looks like what’s called a “tuner key”. Very common, and assist any tire shop should have one. I’ve got two in my box, and would let you borrow one for a refundable deposit, but I suspect we’re not in the same city.

One of my local junkyards got a CLK AMG once. They didn’t put it out in the field, but instead kept it as a trophy for awhile. Not sure what happened to it.

Best thing I ever found in a junkyard was an International Travelall. Those rims are dope, though. You have to grab them asap

How big were the wheels? They don't look oversized like most Monoblocks.

This yard doesn’t keep anything back which is nice. They usually don’t even know what they have.

I had to look up what else it would work on. Not too much, wouldn’t own a VAG car, crossfire would work though.

Never seen one of those, but then again I don’t look at the roofs often. What are they typically in? Is it aftermarket?

OMG- I forgot about those. I had to install one of them when they came out. In a Continental show car. How much were they new?

I would sooner assume transmission or wiring harness. Those engines are fantastic.

Those wheels are worth some money. Probably at least $500 for the set in good condition. Double that if they’re 18"s. Other than that I don’t really know. It has a lot of rare parts that don’t really belong on other cars, but could work, like instrument cluster and steering wheel. The problem you’re going to have is that most 202's are junk by now and their owners don’t take care of them and certainly don’t want to spend more money on uses AMG parts.

Personally I would throw the engine, wiring harness, computer, and a few other bits in my garage for a future project. “Modern”300+ whp I6 1960's Benz, anyone?

I never really thought much about the C36, but an I6 AMG excites me quiet a bit. Examples on ebay aren’t too expensive.

Nobody does. Because e36 m3. But that doesn’t mean the c36 isn’t any good. They’re pretty quick, sound great, and comfortable. I wanted one pretty badly (or a c43) but could never find one in good enough condition for the asking price, so I increased my budget and bought my e55 instead.

Well even if you don't do me a favor, you can probably make a hot buck if you can prove they work. If the factory amp is burnt out they are useless but I doubt a scrapyard will charge you more than like 10-20$ for one. Gotta love eBay
